Eos Systems Adds European Reseller

Photarc UK to distribute PhotoModeler software

Vancouver, BC - December 13, 2005 - Eos Systems, maker of the award-winning PhotoModeler software, today announced Photarc Surveys Ltd, a UK-based architectural measurement firm, has become an official reseller of PhotoModeler to the United Kingdom and Ireland.

PhotoModeler, a software application which enables accurate measurement through photographs - with the ability to generate a scaled, photorealistic 3D computer model of any real-world object, regardless of size - has been adopted across a wide variety of diverse industries and applications, including accident reconstruction, industrial surveying and reverse engineering, as well as modeling and pre-visualization in film production. Photarc, an expert in close-range photogrammetry, has intimate experience in some of the most advanced and unusual applications of PhotoModeler to date.

Founded in 1974, Photarc's most notable work has been in the area of architectural measurement, specializing in historic monuments facing renovation and repair. PhotoModeler is one of the company's key tools. "Since that time we have developed a number of very strong relationships which have seen us work in Australia, Hong Kong, Honduras, Russia and mainland Europe," explains senior engineer of Photarc, Rory Stanbridge. "Many of these surveys have been of historic monuments. We have also acted as consultants to the Getty Institute in the United States. We have gone so far as to undertake a number of very specialist applications including helicopter surveying, tunnel work, and even built underwater cameras, to complete our work."

"We like to think that we are very versatile. A bit like PhotoModeler, really," quips Stanbridge. "So this reseller agreement is a match made in heaven."

Although Photarc sells consultancy services based on the technology's results, Stanbridge believes that selling the software product will complement Photarc's capabilities, creating increased market penetration into advanced measurement projects. Some of these projects will no doubt benefit from Photarc expertise and experience as photogrammetric consultants.

"Although some people find it odd that we sell a product that could be perceived to take work away from our service business, I believe that the more people that understand what photogrammetry can do for them, the more consulting opportunities we will see from customers that have exceptional requirements such as tight timeframes for implementation, or a lack of available personnel," Stanbridge explains.

Distributing PhotoModeler has brought Photarc in contact with a diverse group of customers outside the realm of architecture, according to Stanbridge: "Since taking on the dealership a few months ago, we have sold the software to traffic investigators, architects, a wheelchair manufacturer, a number of survey companies, film companies, model makers and others. The latest enquiry has been from a man who wants to model hockey sticks. And I don't mean wear them -- just measure them."

Alan Walford, CEO of Eos Systems, attributes the company's worldwide success thus far to the constant improvement of the product and to listening to its customers and resellers. "Ongoing development is one of our daily core activities," says Walford. "Our focus has been on providing a sophisticated product to both technical and non-technical audiences with excellent support. Photarc's vast knowledge about this technology makes the company the perfect choice to help continue this commitment abroad."
